Dear John, a big “Thank You” to you, Rob Watson and Richard Lloyd-Jones for digging the hole for Stan’s tree. You did a perfect job, and it was a big weight off our minds. We were really please that so many people wanted to scatter ashes and help with filling in around the tree. We understand that the tree is going to be part of a memorial area, which is a lovely idea. It was a nice detail that someone put the sticks around the area to create a small barrier. Was that you? Back home we found that someone had put them in our car. Please let us know if you want them back.
We were very pleased with the way the service went on Thursday and think Stan would have approved. It was good to have so many people there. We know there were at least 38, including 10 from LEMAC. Please would you thank them from us.
Donations added up to £208. The tree cost £59.99. So we will round the money up and send £150 to Nottingham Hospitals Charity for the Nottingham Auditory Implant Programme (NAIP). They were the department who dealt with Stan’s cochlear implant. Hopefully they will be able to use it for the benefit of other deaf people.
I hope some of the many photos I passed onto you will be of use! My sister and I have taken what we wish to keep in the family, so any you do not want can be passed onto others, Roger Ward if he wants them, or thrown away. I have attached a copy of the photo used at the service in case you want it for the website. It was taken by someone at LEMAC when he was presented with a model aircraft for his 80th birthday. I have also attached a file with a photo of the Cup and shields Stan won. I will pass the actual items onto Roger if he wants them.
Take care and keep safe
Pat
